The tenth season of Music on the Hill opens in a swirl of light and colors. Kicking off with renowned sonatas by the French impressionist composers Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel, the listener is invited into sonic atmospheres as vibrant as the changing Fall season. The program will close with Beethoven’s peculiar ‘Ghost’ Trio, named for its contrasting, eerie second movement, Largo assai ed espressivo. This trio, thought to have its roots in an abandoned Macbeth opera, reminds us that the shifting light and colors of the season are not without their shadows.
